with Kathleen Clemons

Workshop begins September 7th, 2020

Flowers make perfect photographic subjects for a variety of reasons: they are colorful and ever-changing, they come in many different varieties, and you can find them everywhere. Flower subject choices are infinite, from wild daisies scattered in a field, to your florist’s finest roses, from spring’s early crocuses and daffodils to the elegance of calla lilies and orchids, each with their own special beauty.

If your flower photos are less than spectacular, this is the class for you! Kathleen will share her tips and secrets to creating her stunning, award-winning flower photographs.

You’ll learn the rules (and how to break them!) of composing beautiful flower images, how to isolate and simplify your compositions, how to use natural light to your advantage, as well as how to work around less than desirable lighting situations. You’ll learn how to choose a background, gain a deeper understanding of depth of field and how to add a more artistic look to your images.

Kathleen will teach you what to look for in a subject and how to best capture flowers to create photos you can be proud of. Each week she will also show you images straight from her camera, and you will learn exactly how she created and processed the shot to create the final image. As the class progresses you will begin to look at flowers in new and exciting ways.

Lessons are a combination of videos, slideshows, and PDFs.

How Does the Course Work?

Workshops operate 100% online. All our premium course content is available to you 24/7 so you can learn at a time that suits you!

There are no set class times, so that means YOU follow the lesson plan when it suits YOU!

Our team of Instructors have put together easy to follow courses which are offered as a downloadable pdf at the end of your course period, that incorporate comprehensive lessons and complementary video content.

Our All-Inclusive students are guided through each weekly lesson through our Student Forum and will receive invaluable personalized feedback and bonus content on their progress.

And best of all, access to your course content is maintained for six months from the start date of your course so that you can come back to it at any time during that period (excludes forum access).

This is all about happy students

“This course is so much more in depth and I’m so so glad I took the complete course.  I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed this course.  My mind is filled with different ways to look at flowers, I mean really look at flowers and then try to capture what I’ve seen.Thank you again.”
~Stephanie B
“Thank you for offering this class via Gather Academy.  It’s been an incredible experience.  I just don’t have the words to express what I’ve learned and what it means to me.  I know I have a lot more to learn and certainly a lot left to master – I’ve just touched the surface and can’t wait to dive in deeper!”
~Louisa A
“Your class is really helping me to slow down and THINK as I’m shooting.  Even when my instincts say “this is the shot, press that shutter”, I’m pausing and stepping back, thinking through if I really have the focus just where I want it, have I framed the flower to emphasize what I’m seeing, etc. Shooting indoors also helps allow me to take the time to do that, no wind and fast changing light; but the more practice and discipline I put towards “thinking” to make it a routine, and not just getting excited about the beauty I’m seeing, will definitely help me out in the field.
Your teaching style and the format of this class, is really clicking with me. Thank you so much for the time, effort, and thought you put into this content!”
~Denise M
“Kathleen, I cannot begin to thank you enough.  In my 30 years as an educator, I have not only taught but have taken classes from hundreds of instructors.  This is one of the best classes I have ever taken!  The selection, presentation and pacing of the content is exceptional.  Your critiques of our photographs are geared to our individual needs and cover numerous editing, color and composition points.  The time you spend answering our individual questions and making videos to explain editing techniques based on individual questions goes beyond expectations.  Your dedication to your students and photography is apparent through out this course.  My goal is to someday be able to participate in person in one of your workshops.  Until then, I will continue to take your on line classes.  Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”
