It's no secret that I love creative journaling. I've done it since back in my dance school days, in fact it was a requirement we do it. I love having a place where I can record all my ideas, feelings, set and track my goals, and get my creativity flowing, but I don't do it as well as I should these days. Sometimes the challenge is time, but also knowing where to start or what to do can also be a big hurdle. This is when I love to use guided journals or workbooks as a creative tool. If you want to get into journaling, here are 5 guided journals that I love and recommend to help you unleash your creativity process….

After releasing her gorgeous book ‘For the Love of the Photograph’, Chloe joined together with the wonderful Cindy Cavanagh to release the CREATIVE JOURNAL to accompany her little book of magic. This fabulous journal is your own personal treasure trove of inspiration and ideas, and is the most wonderful companion for photographers or any creative being!! Paired so perfectly with Chloe's book For the Love of Photograph, I cannot recommend this one enough!! It’s jam-packed with exercises, thought prompts and planning tools to fill your creative cup.

This is one is also paired with the photography book of the same name.  It is focused on developing photography skills like composition, exposure, lighting, lenses, and observation and is packed with fun photography prompts and inspiring images by master photographers so you can get creative with your camera. I love this one for creating your own personal photobook by sticking in your photos into the spaces provided or just to dip in and out when you’re stuck for ideas. Henry Carroll's clear, jargon-free style of teaching has demystified digital photography and inspires you to get creative with their cameras.

If you’ve read Austin Kleon’s amazing bestselling guides to creativity, ‘Steal Like an Artist’, ‘Show Your Work’ and ‘Keep Going!’ and if you love them as much I do then this is fun journal might be great one for you! It is overflowing with inspirational quotes, prompts, exercises, and blank pages for writing down and sketching out new (and lifted) ideas. This one isn’t specifically photography related and great if you really want to push your creativity!

I just love this gorgeous 365 guide, it’s all about you experimenting, exploring and letting go of your artistic inhibitions, while encouraging you to look for creative inspiration wherever you go. Featuring creative daily exercises and goal-setting as well as plenty of prompts and tips, it will inspire you to put a little creativity into every day.  This one is great if you love to doodle, draw and put pen (or colouring pencils) to paper!

Bullet It! is super sweet and simple journal, part traditional journal and part adult colouring book.  Inside you’ll find beautifully laid-out pages and guided fill-ins to record your goals and dreams both large and small.  There are fun doodle activities, dotted grids and promises to make your journaling a little bit more lovely and a lot more organised!
