WHAT YOU WANT, WHAT A TEEN WANTS

It this what you get when you try to photograph your teen? Do you feel you struggle to even connect on the same level? You are not alone and I am here to help!

What you want, what a teen wants…these two wants maybe closer than you think. It all goes back to connecting, listening and observing. In doing this you will find ways you can grow through their ideas. For example, the social media of my youth, Vogue. No not Madonna's “strike a pose” Vogue. But you are getting close… In my youth I loved to flip through magazines, Vogue and Cosmo were the rage! I would flip through the pages and dream. Much like our youth do on their phones today. Phones are the new magazines, that may have changed. But why I flipped the pages and why teens scroll has stayed the same.

So I put this to the test, I got a Vogue magazine. FYI, I had to order it online. No more seeing this on the racks at the store... Anyway... I gave the magazine to my son and asked him to show me the pages he thought would be cool to have an inspired shoot with. At first he wasn't that thrilled. Then I came in the living room he had clothes picked out to correspond with the pages he loved.

I have to say he was pretty clever in stating that he needed a few new items to pull the looks off. So yes you guessed it we did some shopping. It was so much fun.
