 MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

I am a retired educator that loves exploring the outdoors with my Nikon. Got my first digital camera when I started teaching. Was 100% clueless about photography, but absolutely fell in love with it.

My love for abstract images started with my interest in Art Lenses. These are predominantly manual focus and have a fixed focal length. Being able to use selective focus and “blur” parts of my image naturally led me to even more blur with Intentional Camera Movement, also known as ICM. This technique is an incredible tool to create art through your photography.

I’m fortunate to live 5 minutes from the American River and amazing trails with nature all around. My preferred subjects are landscapes in nature and flowers. Also love shooting flowers up close with a macro lens or adapter. All things abstract are a great part of my passion.

So, welcome to my world of beauty.
